Fifty Years Ago: Last Nurse Survivor of Bataan Still on Active Duty Retires

Lt. Col. Helen Hennessey narrowly escaped Batan before invading Japanese forces took over. After making her way to the island of Corregidor in the Philippines, she cared for the sick and wounded in a hospital there. She retired from active duty in the Air Force on January 31, 1967.
