Twelve Favorite Bible Prayers

The Bible says, “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” (Luke 11:9-10)

In Matthew 6:9-13, Jesus taught his disciples to pray in answer to their request. He gave them a model prayer such as follows:

“Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come.

Your will be done.

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts.

As we forgive our debtors.

And do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power

and the glory forever. Amen.”

Our prayers should recognize our relationship with God; acknowledge God’s authority; trust God for our daily bread and His provision; to pray for forgiveness and to forgive others; ask God to lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil when we are evaluated. We must ask the Holy Spirit to help us find the way out of a situation.

“… pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Prayer is an essential part of our faith and helps believers to connect with God. The Bible gives accounts of God’s believers praying. There accounts of Jesus and His disciples praying including Old Testament followers such as Noah, Abraham, Esther, and Daniel to name a few. Prayer is the place we can praise the Lord and bring our needs and talk to Him about His will for our life on earth.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, give me wisdom and perspective. Lord, guide me according to Your plans for my life and according to Your purpose. Thank You for Your love, joy, and peace. Give me courage, Lord, to claim the spiritual riches that You have promised in Your Word. Keep me ever mindful that Your truth is and will forever be the ultimate truth. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
