Strength for Today and Hope for Tomorrow

The Scripture says, “The LORD is good, a stronghold (refuge) in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him” (Nahum 1:7). Our world today is filled with many problems and challenges; however, during these uncertain times we should pray and ask our heavenly Father for direction and guidance. The Bible says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7).

The Lord our God will work all the problems we face in life for our good and His purpose (Romans 8:28). Psalm 23:4 says, “Yea, (even) though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Therefore, let’s cast all of our fears and anxieties upon the Lord for He truly cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

Scripture Verses for Meditation

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

“Casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

“But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall help them and deliver them from the wicked, and save them because they trust in Him.” (Psalm 37:39–40)

“And He (Jesus) said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you . . . for My strength is make perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, 10)

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3)

“Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge.” (Psalm 57:1)

The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.” (Psalm 118:8–9)

“Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!” (Psalm 27:14)

“But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 38:2)

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you, and you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11–13)

“This I recall to my mind, therefore, I have hope. Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, says my soul, therefore, I hope in Him! The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.” (Lamentations 3:21–26)

“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.” (2 Thessalonians 2:16–17)

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for your faithfulness to us. Make us mindful of those who need our help and encouragement. Lord put Your hand on the Service members, Veterans, and their family members, and take care of their needs and comfort them in whatever may cause stress and anxiety. Help us go forth to serve You renewed and strengthened by Your mercy and grace. And help us to extend your blessings to others You send our way most in need. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
