The National Association of American Veterans, Inc. (NAAV), motto “Caring About Those Who Served” will attend several Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Kickoff Meetings held in September, October and November 2019 in the greater Washington Metropolitan Area. The CFC, the largest workplace charitable giving drive in the world, began on September 12, 2019 and runs through January 12, 2020.

The campaign theme, Show Some Love, focus on impacts and causes, donors care about. It is complemented by Show You Care messaging, which expresses the volunteer component of the campaign.

Show CFC Campaign Video featuring NAAV’s Board of Directors member Alvin Shell, U.S. Army Veteran (Retired) and Chief Security for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC. Visit: https://cfcnca.org/campaign-video

Alvin joined the U.S. Army in September of 2000 and was medically retired at the rank of Captain. He was commissioned through the Officer Candidate School after his enlisted service as a military policeman. As a platoon Leader, Alvin led his platoon to Iraq in 2004 and was later severely injured during battle. His last duty station was spent at Fort Bragg, NC as a Paratrooper. His is married and is the father of three sons.

Alvin’s physical and emotional recovery has not been perfect, but he has the perfect family support helping him through it. During his imperfect recovery he regains his peace of mind and serenity one cast at a time with a fly-fishing rod. Alvin is a multiple award-winning fly-fisherman that has fished from Alaska to the Florida Keys. He says that his ability to regain peace of mind was possible due to the support and encouragement given to him by his first casting instructor for disabled Veterans. He was the lead consultant for Ft. Belvoir’s project to make military housing better for wounded Service Members and their families (https: youtu.be/DHqnAHYpPg1). He was the keynote speaker for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (https: youtu.be/WOeoWpDwEFg) during multiple tournaments and was ultimately praised by the President for his actions in combat (https: youtu.be/vvat542h814) during a national speech.

Here at the National Association of American Veterans, Inc. we fill a very important role and that is helping on a day-to-day basis our severely injured Service men and women, disabled Veterans, their families and caregivers nationwide.
