We Honor Veterans (WHV) is about respecting and honoring hospice
Veterans because they have done everything asked of them in their mission to serve our country and it is never too late to give them a hero’s welcome home. Hospice staff may provide the last opportunity for Veterans to feel that their service was not in vain, and that they are appreciated. Simple acts of gratitude at the end-of-life can make up for a lack of appreciation or recognition during the Veteran’s lifetime, especially for those Veterans who were never welcomed home or thanked for their service.
MY VISION IS TO RECOGNIZE 2,017 VETERAN HOSPICE PATIENTS ON NOVEMBER 11, 2017 IN THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA REGION!
The We Honor Veterans (WHV) program is designed to give dignity and respect to Veterans who are on their last journey. A certificate and a WHV Pin is given to each hospice veteran patient and ends with a heartfelt salute!
I am looking for volunteers to help perform and provide manpower to perform these ceremonies across the Northern Virginia region.
What I need is:
* Qualified Volunteers
* Hospice Volunteer training of 8 hours is required
Background check will be performed by us
TB test required, 2 part performed by us
* Volunteers before, during and after the ceremony on November 11th
* Printing certificates (manpower to create and the certificates)
* Veteran or Chaplin performing the 20 minute ceremony at designated nursing/assisted living homes
* Assistants with the ceremony
Handing out certificates
Pinning the WHV pin
* Tearing down
I would appreciate your endorsement and/or assistance in getting the word out for this event. All volunteers must be trained no later than October 11, so the need is immediate because of the ramp up time required.
Thank you for your consideration.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
